Nothing much to see here I hear you say, but Finbar and the lads at O’Brien Donnellan are doing some job on the South Mall with new Riven Laths, Hotlime backing coats, Lime putty and Plaster of Paris finish and that’s just the flat work. Those dentils are coming along nicely too.

Easy to apply, no biodegradation, NHL with perlite (natural forming volcanic glass used for a long time for drainage and aeration) and with v good thermal performance we like this product. Thermal conductivity 0.083 W/(m-k)

Another iconic building in Cork recently completed. The Courthouse Chambers with many hundreds of bricks repaired, and a complete lime re-point with Secil lime, expertly executed by Kieren & Mike and all the lads at Ahern Bros.
So this is what happens when foil-backed PIR insulated plaster board is attached to solid stone walls in Ireland; mould, rot and trapped dampness. Unfortunately it’s all too common. Check out the alternatives at one of our Insulating Old Buildings workshops this summer.
