Lime Render

After a deluge this morning the suns come out in West Waterford showing off the vibrancy of our lime render in Tramore and Tallow.  Special mention to John Scully(RIP) and Derek Mangan for the job in Tallow. Lovely walls ‘shame the cemented chimneys can’t match them, c’est la vie.

Dublin Heritage Buildings Show

Lovely to spend the weekend chatting to lots of new and old friends at Dublin Heritage Building Show in Merrion Square Park. Not least my co-host and old pal, the ever-young Peter Kelly from Conservation Technology. Also shout out to Shane and the Nolans crew next door and all the BFLI people. It was really great to catch up. Special thanks to the Irish Georgian Society for inviting us each year. Excellent job again Emmeline.

Earthborn Claypaint

Earthborn Claypaint is nearing 20 years decorating and protecting old buildings in Ireland. This colour; Freckle (back in the day call Sand Orange); was one of our original four colours taking it’s tone from the natural clay ingredient. ‘Still looks great.’

Training at Pilmore

So nice to have a full house this morning at our Lime Rendering and Plastering Course. There’s a real appetite for learning out there at the moment. 3 more course on Decoration of Old Buildings, Pointing, and Insulating Old buildings before the end of the month so it’s all go in Pilmore.

National Gallery

Looking forward to working at the Dublin Heritage building show next week in Merrion Square. Hope to find the time to pop next door to check out our lime plaster and the masterful work by Paul Griffin Plastering (and maybe look at a painting or two).

South Mall project

Nothing much to see here I hear you say, but Finbar and the lads at O’Brien Donnellan are doing some job on the South Mall with new Riven Laths, Hotlime backing coats,  Lime putty and Plaster of Paris finish and that’s just the flat work. Those dentils are coming along nicely too.

Earthborn Claypaint

Some of our rich natural earth colours in Earthborn Claypaint. We like this blend.

Lime Render & Plaster

Mary Robinson Centre in Ballina, Co. Mayo. Great job done with Lime render and plaster. Cork board insulation, Stoneware Studios repair mortars, Earthborn Breathable paints inside and out. Cast Iron rainwater goods and you name it this has it. Well done Mayo Co Co for a great job and Brian and all at LPB.

Insulating Plaster

Otterbein Calcea Insulating Plaster supplied by Stoneware Studios being applied by the men of Kenneth Sisk Plastering in Cork City. Easy to apply, no biodegradation, NHL with perlite (natural forming volcanic glass used for a long time for drainage and aeration) and with v good thermal performance we like this product.  Thermal conductivity 0.083 W/(m-k) giving a uvalue on an un-rendered 500mm stone wall of 0.84694 W/m2K for 50mm thick or 0.5705 W/m2K for 100mm thick which is up there with the best.

Lime project

Bolands Mills, Dublin complete with lime supplied by Stoneware Studios. Another excellent job and a credit to Shane, Chris and all at Nolans.

Lime pointing & Limestone repair
